Juan Alcaraz’s filmmaking journey began in 2017 with a medium-length film, “Los Cuatro de Mr. M”, which, despite being self-produced, won Best Sound Design at the Global Motion Pictures Awards in Los Angeles.
In 2018 Alcaraz wrote and directed a first professional short, the thriller “El Encuentro”, which received numerous selections at national and international film festivals.
Comedy had always been an interest, but it was in 2019 that Alcaraz took the leap with “La Casica de Papel”, a Murcian-style parody of the famous Netflix series and one of Alcaraz’s most popular works, with a strong response across the Region of Murcia. In 2020 Alcaraz founded the production company Oliva Films, writing, directing and producing comedy shorts such as “Inglés británico” (official selection at the 18th Cinemajalvir Film Festival) and “Vecinos” (finalist at NotodoFilmFest 2020).
In 2022 Alcaraz co-wrote and co-directed “He pescado”, a surreal comedy short with more than twenty selections and six awards, including Best Editing at the Tarazona y El Moncayo Paco Martínez Soria Comedy Film Festival, a Goya Awards qualifying festival. Outside fiction, Alcaraz has directed music videos for artists such as Marwán and Adiós Noviembre, winning Best Music Video at the 2023 Region of Murcia Music Awards for “Crimen y condena”.
